The internet is abuzz with the news that Condé Nast is shutting the doors on Gourmet magazine, along with several wedding magazines. It is inevitable that many magazines will cease production in the upcoming months and years, due to the fact that we as a society spend more and more of our time getting information and killing time via the internet. When I am not processing the wedding photos I have taken, I sometimes surf the internet. I notice more and more people considering themselves epicures, foodies, whatever you’d like to call it. Without spending a large portion of one’s paycheck at high-end restaurants, even the everyday person can have a go at something more adventurous in the kitchen. The masses are turning to food websites, food blogs, online cooking communities.

The internet has become the new cookbook. Though mostly a photo blog, this blog is one of thousands of food blogs on the internet. Today the popular website eater.com is offering food blog owners $25 to take down their blogs. I’m not that desperate for $25, even though that might afford me a nice meal. I get nice meals at many weddings.

This blog came about because I was showing a friend how simple it is to use WordPress, even if you are technologically illiterate. No sooner after posting a handful of single-picture entries, did I realize this blog was getting thousands of visitors. I suppose to some, it is interesting to see what wedding photographers get to eat at weddings, if they have time to eat. Soon after waking up this morning and reading about the death of Gourmet Magazine, I noticed yet another spike in traffic to this blog.

Until my next shoot….
